Ingredients
- 1 can tuna, drained
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise, for tuna filling
- 1 tbsp garlic mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp onion, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp spring onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp salt (or to taste)
- 4 slices sandwich bread
- 1 tbsp butter, softened
- 2 slices cheese
- 1 tbsp mayonnaise, for spreading
Instructions
- Drain and season the tuna. Drain the tuna very well, then add it to a bowl with chopped onion, spring onion, black pepper, and salt.
- Make it creamy. Add mayonnaise and garlic mayonnaise, then mix gently with a spoon until everything is evenly combined.
- Prepare the bread. Place 4 slices of sandwich bread on a board and spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on one side of each slice.
- Add the tuna filling. Spread the tuna mixture evenly over 2 slices of bread.
- Add the cheese. Place one cheese slice over the tuna filling on each sandwich.
- Close and butter. Cover with the remaining bread slices, mayonnaise-side down, then lightly spread softened butter on the outside of each sandwich.
- Grill until crisp. Heat a grill pan or sandwich maker over medium heat. Grill the sandwiches until golden and crisp, then flip and cook until the other side is golden and the cheese melts.
- Slice and serve. Transfer to a board, cool for 1 to 2 minutes, then cut each sandwich into triangles and serve warm.
